The Tour of Gippsland is an elite cycling race for Australia’s best up and coming riders, and is part of Cycling Australia’s National Road Series, an important step for riders on the Australian cycling scene.
Each year the best young male and female cyclists from all over Australia descend on Gippsland providing grassroots cyclists the opportunity to witness elite racing, whilst also promoting the importance of sport and healthy living in the Gippsland region. GTR Events have proudly owned and run the ToG since 2016, growing the event to include woman's racing in 2017.
The Tour of Gippsland returns to the region from in 2021.

Event update from the Tour of Gippsland
In recent weeks, the Tour of Gippsland management team, GTR Events and Cycling Australia, have constantly and carefully been following the ongoing and changing COVID-19 environment, including reviewing advice provided by the Australian and Victorian governments.
In response to the increased restrictions in Victoria and the uncertainty of timelines for easing of restrictions varying across the country regarding the COVID-19 threat and after much deliberation, and more than a little heartbreak, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Tour of Gippsland.
The Tour of Gippsland was set to take place from the 8th to the 10th October. The Tour forms part of the National Road Series, the premier domestic Road Racing Series in Australia and sees the rise of Australia’s up and coming cycling talent.
We share the disappointment of our athletes and local community that this decision had to be made - but feel it’s the right one. Tour of Gippsland organising partners have acted with the best interest of all athletes, staff, volunteers and local community members in mind.
GTR Events Managing Director, Rod Lockwood said: “We have undertaken a comprehensive and complex event contingency planning exercise and through this process, our number one priority has been to follow Government regulations and protect the health and safety of everyone involved in the local community, the sport and the event.”
“The decision to cancel the Tour of Gippsland was taken after consultation with Cycling Australia and careful consideration of all of the options available to us. The complex and ever changing nature of the COVID-19 Pandemic and the health and safety of athletes, staff, volunteers and community members is at the forefront of this decision.”
We’d like to thank the ongoing support from LaTrobe City Council and all our partners including the LaTrobe Valley Authority, Sports and Recreation Victoria and Cycling Victoria and look forward to bringing the Tour of Gippsland back to Latrobe in 2021.
