The 2016 Australian Paper Tour of Gippsland is set to make an exciting return to Cycling Australia’s National Road Series calendar from Wednesday the 31st August to Sunday the 4th of September...
Adding to the excitement is the announcement that local manufacturer Australian Paper has signed on as the new Naming Rights partner, proving that this year is set to be biggest and best edition in the event’s acclaimed 10 year history.
After taking a year’s hiatus in 2015, the much-loved event returns as the ‘jewel in the crown’ of Australia’s domestic road cycling calendar.
With a prestigious list of past winners such as Will Walker and Nathan Haas, the event is a pinnacle steppingstone for those ambitious riders hoping to forge a career in the professional cycling arena.
“We are excited to see the return of the Tour of Gippsland to the NRS calendar in 2016 and welcome Australian Paper as the Naming Rights partner for the event,” said David Ferrier CEO of Event Deliverer, GTR Events.
Like the Tour of Gippsland, Australian Paper has a long history in the Gippsland region, with its Maryvale Mill operational since 1937.
“We look forward to forming a strong alliance with the team at Australian Paper that lasts for many years to come,” Ferrier said.
Made famous for its breathtaking scenery and mountainous landscape, Gippsland makes the perfect location for this gruelling five-stage Tour.
The magnificent scenery around Traralgon, Paynesville, Metung, Sale, Port Albert, Wonthaggi and Inverloch will play host to what promises to be an exciting combination of criterium and road racing.
2016 is the first year that Australian Paper has signed on as Naming Rights sponsor of the event and the local company is looking forward to this new chapter in their support of community partnership events.
“Our sponsorship of this important local cycling event demonstrates Australian Paper’s ongoing commitment to supporting our local community,” said Adrian Berton, General Manager of Australian Paper Manufacturing.
“Australian Paper thanks Cycling Australia for the opportunity to be a part of this elite 5 day road race and as one of the Latrobe Valley’s largest employers, we look forward to helping make the 2016 Australian Paper Tour of Gippsland one of the best yet,” Berton said.
This year, the prestigious five stage event will attract the best Australian teams and the cream of Australia's elite domestic male cyclists as the battle it out to become the National Road Series champion.
